Lawn Mowing

Weekly and biweekly lawn mowing across Maryland's Eastern Shore. Mowing, trimming, edging, and blowing on a set schedule with the same crew. Easton, Cambridge, St. Michaels, Salisbury, Denton, Chestertown, Queen Anne's County. Marshall Property Management.

Same crew, same day, every week.

Most people looking for a mowing service have been let down by one before. The crew that came every week in May starts skipping weeks in July. Nobody tells you they are not coming. The trimming gets sloppy, the clippings get blown into the beds, and by August you are calling somebody else.

We run mowing on fixed routes. Your property has a day, the crew that cuts it is the same crew week to week, and if weather pushes us off that day you hear about it from us first.

01

Mowing

Cut at the height the grass actually wants, which on Shore lawns is higher than most people expect. Tall fescue and bluegrass hold up through summer heat at three and a half to four inches. Cutting short is the single most common reason a lawn thins out and fills with crabgrass by July.
02

Trimming

String trimming around beds, foundations, fence lines, posts, and anything the mower cannot reach. Done every visit, not when it starts to look bad.
03

Edging

Hard edges along drives, walks, and curb lines. This is the part that makes a mowed lawn look finished rather than just cut.
04

Blowing

Clippings cleared off drives, walks, and patios before we leave. Clippings stay on the lawn where they return nitrogen to the soil. They do not go in the beds and they do not go in the storm drain.
05

Weekly or Biweekly

Weekly through the growing season is what most lawns need here. Biweekly works on larger rural lots and during the slower stretches of mid summer. We will tell you honestly which one your property needs.
06

Sharp Blades

Blades sharpened on a schedule. A dull blade tears the leaf instead of cutting it, the torn tips brown out within a day, and the wounds open the plant to disease. It is visible on the lawn within one cut.

Mowing height and the Eastern Shore summer.

Shore lawns sit on sandy, low organic matter soils that dry out fast and hold little water. The lawn’s own leaf canopy is most of its defense against that. Cut it short and you remove the shade over the soil, the surface temperature climbs, moisture leaves faster, and the roots shorten to match the top growth.

That is why we mow high through June, July, and August, and why we do not scalp in spring to “get ahead of it.” The lawns that look best here in late August are the ones that were cut tall in June.

March to May are the heavy growth weeks. Weekly service, sometimes tighter during a wet spring.

June through August the cool season grasses slow down under heat. Mowing height goes up, and on some properties the interval stretches. This is also when a lawn that was cut too short in spring starts to show it.

September and October growth picks back up as soil temperatures drop. Weekly service again, and this is the window when aeration, overseeding, and the fall nitrogen application do the most good.

November is the last few cuts and the transition into leaf work.

Mowing alone, or mowing as part of the whole program.

Plenty of clients want the grass cut and nothing else. That is a service we are glad to run, and it does not come bundled with anything you did not ask for.

Where it is worth thinking about the fuller picture is when the lawn itself is the problem. Mowing keeps a lawn tidy. It will not fix thin turf, it will not push out crabgrass, and it will not correct soil pH that has drifted down into the fives. Those need the application side: fertilization, weed control, aeration, and overseeding, applied under the MDA licenses this state requires for commercial work.

If the lawn is past the point where a program brings it back, that becomes a lawn and turf installation conversation instead. Late summer into fall is the right window for that on the Shore.

For properties where mowing is one line in a bigger scope, the year-round maintenance plans cover mowing, beds, seasonal cleanup, and the treatment program on one agreement.

Where we mow.

Mowing runs on routes, so the service area for weekly cutting is tighter than the areas we cover for project work. We mow in and around:

Talbot County Easton, St. Michaels, Oxford, Trappe, Tilghman

Dorchester County Cambridge, Church Creek, Hurlock, East New Market

Queen Anne’s County Centreville, Stevensville, Chester, Grasonville, Church Hill

Caroline County Denton, Preston, Federalsburg

Kent County Chestertown, Rock Hall

Wicomico County Salisbury and the surrounding area

If your property is outside those towns, it is still worth asking. Route density is what decides it, and routes change as we add work in an area. Full coverage is on the service areas page.

What it costs.

Mowing is priced per visit, by the property. The things that move the number are the size of the turf area, how much trimming and edging the layout creates, gate access and slope, and whether the interval is weekly or biweekly. A quarter acre lot with open turf and a half acre lot cut up by beds, fence, and a pool are different jobs at the same acreage.

We walk the property, measure it, and give you a per visit price and a schedule. No charge for the estimate, and no obligation attached to it.
